Kamal Haasan confirmed that he will reunite with Rajinikanth on screen after 46 years. The announcement came during the NEXA SIIMA Awards 2025 in Dubai.
When actor-comedian Sathish asked Kamal about the buzz, he confirmed it with humor. Kamal said, “We were united long ago but chose to remain apart because they kept splitting a biscuit and giving us only half. Now we are content with half a biscuit again, so we have come together.”
The veteran actor stressed that there was never real competition between him and Rajinikanth, only comparisons made by the audience. He added, “This reunion might surprise people from a business perspective, but we always expected it. We are happy it is finally happening.”
The film will reportedly be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who earlier worked with Rajinikanth in Coolie (2025) and Kamal Haasan in Vikram (2022).
Kamal and Rajinikanth began their careers in the 1970s under K. Balachander. They acted together in classics like Apoorva Raagangal, Moondru Mudichu, 16 Vayathinile, Avargal, and Ninaithale Inikkum. Their last full-fledged collaboration was Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum in 1979.
