RJD MLA Mukesh Kumar Yadav from Bajpatti, Sitamarhi, fell ill during his hunger strike against the water crisis. He started the protest to demand safe drinking water for villagers, farmers, and cattle.
On Monday night, his health worsened. Sitamarhi DM Rishi Pandey reached the protest site and urged him to stop fasting. Yadav refused at first but ended his strike after the DM promised quick action. He was then taken to Sadar Hospital. Later, due to chest pain and weakness, doctors shifted him to Patna for better treatment.
Yadav said that groundwater in Bajpatti, Nanpur, and Bokhara blocks has dropped badly. The water supply system has broken down, and people are suffering every day. He added that despite many complaints, the government has only given false promises.
The MLA is now receiving treatment in Patna. His protest has highlighted the drinking water crisis in Sitamarhi and put pressure on the state government to act fast.
