Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in New Delhi to review the ongoing Nepal crisis. The CCS discussed the alarming violence and its impact on regional stability. PM Modi stressed that the stability, peace, and prosperity of Nepal are essential for India’s security and development.
The CCS, India’s top decision-making body on defence and national security, includes the Home, Defence, Finance, and External Affairs Ministers, with the National Security Advisor coordinating key matters. During the meeting, members underlined the strategic importance of Nepal due to its close geographical and cultural ties with India.
PM Modi expressed concern over the rising violence and tragic loss of young lives. He urged the people of Nepal to maintain peace and order, emphasising that stability, peace, and prosperity of Nepal are of utmost importance to India. He also reassured India’s commitment to support Nepal during this critical time.
In a post on X, PM Modi reiterated his anguish at the situation and appealed to Nepalese citizens to unite for peace. The meeting highlighted India’s priority of ensuring a stable neighborhood for long-term security and regional harmony.
