DRI Seizes Hydroponic Ganja Worth ₹14 Crore at Hyderabad Airport

DRI officials seize 13.9 kg hydroponic ganja worth ₹14 crore at Hyderabad airport from Bangkok passenger luggage

Shamshabad: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized a large quantity of hydroponic ganja at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The contraband was discovered during baggage checks on a passenger arriving from Bangkok.

The passenger, identified as Syed Rizvi, landed in Hyderabad on an international flight. When his luggage was screened, officials found 13.9 kilograms of hydroponic ganja carefully concealed inside. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is nearly ₹14 crore.

Authorities immediately arrested Rizvi and launched further investigations into the smuggling attempt. Officials are probing whether he is part of a larger international drug trafficking network. Sources said hydroponic ganja, grown with advanced cultivation methods, has been in high demand in black markets due to its potency.

The seizure highlights increased surveillance and strict enforcement at Indian airports. Officials said security agencies remain vigilant against attempts to smuggle narcotics through international routes. This case marks one of the largest seizures of hydroponic ganja at Hyderabad airport in recent months.
