The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has exposed shocking facts in a major cyber fraud case from Bihar. Investigators found strong links between cyber fraudsters in Bihar and 40 Aadhaar operators from Rajasthan. This cyber fraud Aadhaar scam has revealed how operators misused their access to tamper with Aadhaar software and biometric details.
The case started in Madhepura, Bihar, where three cyber criminals were arrested. The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) traced their network to 40 Aadhaar operators in Rajasthan. The fraudsters created 39 fake websites to store stolen biometric data. The mastermind, Abhimanyu Rampravesh, learned tricks from YouTube and Google tutorials and even used dark web source codes to create fake Aadhaar portals.
ED officials confirmed that Rampravesh, with the help of Nitish and Vikas Kumar, downloaded unauthorized Aadhaar software (ECMP) and used fake silicone fingerprints of Aadhaar operators to bypass security. This allowed them to manipulate citizens’ Aadhaar data illegally.
The ED has written to the UIDAI Director for more details on these operators. The probe has now expanded to other districts of Bihar and neighboring states. This cyber fraud Aadhaar scam highlights the urgent need for tighter monitoring of Aadhaar operators and stricter cybersecurity safeguards.
