MLA Mehraj Malik’s Detention Sparks AAP Protest Led by Sanjay Singh in Srinagar, raising fresh political tension in Jammu and Kashmir. On Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that its Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was blocked from leaving his official accommodation. He had planned to protest against the detention of AAP’s lone MLA Mehraj Malik.
Malik, elected from the Doda district, was taken into custody earlier this week. His detention triggered anger among AAP workers. The party had announced a press conference and a peaceful protest in Srinagar, but officials did not permit the event.
Speaking to reporters, Sanjay Singh said stopping a democratic protest shows the government’s fear of public voices. He declared that AAP will continue its demand for Malik’s release and will stand with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the same day, a blast sound was reported in Doda. Security agencies rushed to the area and began an investigation. The incident added to the tense atmosphere across the region.
AAP leaders have demanded clarity on why Malik was detained. They also urged authorities to respect democratic rights and ensure peace in the Union Territory.
