In Telangana, the ten MLAs accused of defecting from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to the Congress have denied switching parties. Their statements come after the Supreme Court directed the Speaker to decide on the BRS petition for their disqualification within three months.
According to reports, MLAs Krishna Mohan, Arekapudi Gandhi, Sanjay, Mahipal Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Prakash Goud, Yadayya, and Venkata Rao told the Speaker that they remain loyal to the BRS and have not joined Congress. They argued that their meeting with the Chief Minister was only to discuss development works in their constituencies.
Meanwhile, senior leaders Kadiyam Srihari and Danam Nagender have sought additional time to submit their responses. The case has drawn political attention as it tests the anti-defection law and the stability of party lines in Telangana’s political landscape. A final decision now rests with the Speaker.
