Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged the government and the automobile industry to join hands to achieve self-reliance across the entire value chain. Speaking at the annual SIAM convention, he said this effort will push India closer to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
The Govt and auto industry self-reliance partnership, Modi stressed, is essential as India works toward leadership in green and smart transportation. He highlighted that the automobile sector has improved mobility, raised the quality of life, and boosted confidence in Indian manufacturing.
Calling the industry a “torchbearer” of Make in India, Modi said India is emerging as a hub of innovation, investment, and automobile excellence. He emphasized that opportunities in sustainable mobility, electric vehicles, and clean energy solutions are immense.
He also pointed out that modern technology combined with strong infrastructure is powering India’s growth story. Startups in energy storage and mobility are playing a key role in this transformation.
Modi concluded by saying India is building a future-ready transportation ecosystem, driven by sustainability, innovation, and world-class manufacturing.
