Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister *N. Chandrababu Naidu* has written to Union Ministers of Finance, Commerce, and Fisheries urging immediate intervention to rescue the struggling *aqua sector. Highlighting the crisis, he stated that **U.S. tariffs have inflicted losses of nearly ₹25,000 crore, with almost **50% of export orders cancelled*.
In his letters, Chandrababu emphasized the urgent need for measures to safeguard aqua farmers from further distress. He suggested that the Centre introduce *dedicated trains for the transport of aqua products, which would reduce logistics costs and improve supply chain efficiency. He also requested a **moratorium on interest payments for aqua loans*, allowing farmers breathing space to recover from losses.
The CM underlined that the aqua industry is a vital contributor to both Andhra Pradesh’s economy and India’s export earnings. Without immediate relief, he warned, the livelihoods of thousands of aqua farmers across the state would remain at risk.
