Drunk Cop Haryana Accident Sparks Public Outrage

Locals gather at accident site in Haryana where a drunk cop’s speeding car ran over three children.

A tragic incident in Haryana has sparked outrage after a police officer, allegedly drunk, ran his speeding car over three children, killing two and leaving one critically injured. The accident occurred late Sunday evening in a residential area where the children were playing outside their homes.

Eyewitnesses said the police vehicle, driven at reckless speed, suddenly lost control and rammed into the children before colliding with a roadside structure. Locals rushed to rescue the victims and shifted them to a nearby hospital. Two of the children were declared dead on arrival, while the third is battling for life in the intensive care unit. Doctors described the next 48 hours as crucial.

The driver was identified as a Haryana Police constable, who, according to reports, was under the influence of alcohol. Enraged residents gathered at the spot, staging protests and demanding justice. Many locals alleged that misuse of police vehicles was common and urged authorities to act strictly.

Police confirmed that the constable has been taken into custody. A case has been registered under culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, and drunken driving. Senior officials promised swift action and departmental inquiry, stressing that no one is above the law.

The shocking incident has reignited debates on road safety and accountability within the police force. Civil groups and opposition leaders demanded mandatory alcohol tests for on-duty personnel and tougher punishment for drunk driving.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims are struggling with grief. Residents have announced a candlelight vigil in memory of the two children, highlighting once again the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws in Haryana.
