The upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election in Telangana has drawn strategic attention from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) . With a sizable Muslim voter base in the constituency, AIMIM has made repeated attempts to secure the seat over the past three elections. Though currently not a formal ally of the ruling Congress, AIMIM has often extended support to government decisions.
Party insiders suggest AIMIM may use the bypoll as leverage to push its case for inclusion in Bihar’s Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) led by Congress and RJD . Despite showing interest, AIMIM has faced little response from the alliance. The party is reportedly considering contesting in Jubilee Hills either to pressure Congress or to strengthen its local base.
Analysts note that AIMIM’s entry could make the Congress victory more challenging . Simultaneously, the party continues to explore expansion in Bihar, especially in the Seemanchal region where it has organizational strength.
