Woman Driver of BMW Arrested in Delhi for Finance Ministry Official’s Death

The victim, Navjot Singh (52), served as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs. A resident of Hari Nagar, he died on Sunday afternoon when the BMW struck his motorcycle near the Delhi Cantonment Metro station. His wife, who was riding with him, sustained serious injuries. They were returning from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara.

During the investigation, police identified the driver as Gagandeep Kaur (38), wife of businessman Parikshit Makkar and a resident of Gurugram. She and her husband were also injured in the crash and admitted to a hospital.

After her discharge, police took Kaur into custody for questioning and later placed her under arrest. Officials confirmed that legal proceedings are now underway.

A police statement said: “The woman driving the BMW has been arrested in the case.”

Authorities have registered a case under IPC Section 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and Section 125B (acts endangering life or personal safety of others). The charge of culpable homicide has also been added. The incident has sparked concern over reckless driving in the capital.
