Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu criticized the YSR Congress Party for politicizing the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in establishing medical colleges. He alleged that during the YSRCP regime, only 5% of the required expenditure was actually spent on these institutions.
Explaining the financial details, Chandrababu said, “ For the construction of 10 medical colleges, the estimated cost is ₹4,955 crore. Out of this, the YSRCP government managed to spend only 5%. ” He pointed out that the allocation and utilization gap reflected the previous administration’s lack of seriousness toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure.
The CM further clarified that under the PPP model, 50% of the medical seats will continue to be offered free, just as before. He also emphasized that after a certain period, these colleges would ultimately become government-owned properties, ensuring long-term public benefit. Chandrababu urged people not to be misled by opposition propaganda.
