The Telangana government is seriously focused on addressing the decline in state revenue. Key departments such as Revenue, Commercial Taxes, Excise, and Transport are reportedly seeing a gradual drop in income. While experts had projected a 5% growth in revenue compared to last year , the state has fallen short of expected earnings in June, July, and August.
In a meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Resource Mobilization Cabinet Sub-Committee expressed frustration over the situation. Officials were directed to immediately identify the reasons for the revenue shortfall and submit a detailed report.
The committee compared Telangana’s situation with other states like Karnataka and Jharkhand, where revenue in sectors like registration, commercial taxes, excise, and transport has increased. The committee questioned why Telangana, with its larger urban areas, is experiencing a decline while states with significant tribal populations like Jharkhand are seeing growth. Officials have been urged to find solutions urgently.
