Meghalaya CM Reshuffles Cabinet, Swears in 8 New Ministers

In a recent reshuffle by Meghalaya’s Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, 8 MLAs were sworn in as new ministers. The reshuffle, which took place on September 16, added seven new faces to the cabinet, while eight existing ministers were dropped. This move follows the resignation of eight ministers from their positions.

Among the new ministers are Timothy D. Shira and Sanbor Shullai of the BJP, and Lakhmen Rymbui of the UDP. The reshuffle also saw the inclusion of leaders like Wailadmiki Shyllia, Sosthenes Sohtun, and others from the NPP. The new appointments aim to strengthen the state’s leadership under the NPP-led government.

Chief Minister Sangma, who heads the NPP-led coalition government, emphasized that the reshuffle is part of the ongoing effort to improve governance. The new ministers will take over key portfolios, including agriculture, tourism, education, and disaster management.

With these changes, the Meghalaya Cabinet now comprises 12 ministers, staying within the limit set for the state’s 60-member assembly.
