Travel platform MakeMyTrip has teamed up with food delivery service Zomato to enhance the travel experience for Indian Railways passengers. Now, passengers who book train tickets through the MakeMyTrip app can also order food for their journey.
The service offers meals from over 40,000 restaurants listed on Zomato. These meals will be delivered directly to passengers’ seats at more than 130 railway stations across India.
MakeMyTrip said in a press release that this collaboration will allow passengers to order food from Zomato’s restaurant partners while booking their train tickets. The service will be supported by MakeMyTrip’s “Live Train Status” tool to ensure timely delivery of orders.
According to the statement, more than 90,000 passengers used Indian Railways’ e-catering services daily in FY 2024-25, showing a 66% growth from the previous year. MakeMyTrip aims to tap into this demand with its new “Food on Train” service.
Raj Rishi Singh, CMO of MakeMyTrip, highlighted that this partnership with Zomato aims to improve passenger convenience. As part of the festive season, MakeMyTrip is offering a free coupon for food orders to passengers booking train tickets.
