Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set a target of 50 million metric tonnes (MT) horticulture output for the Rayalaseema and Prakasam regions. He made the announcement during a review meeting in Vijayawada on Monday.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to prioritise pending irrigation projects that require minimal funds. He said these projects should be completed quickly to ensure water availability for agriculture and horticulture development.
Mr. Naidu also asked officials to prepare plans to rebuild the damaged Annamayya project, which is crucial for irrigation and local farming communities. He emphasized that improving water infrastructure will directly support farmers and increase crop production.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of modern farming techniques, proper planning, and efficient resource use to achieve the ambitious horticulture target. He urged officials to monitor progress and ensure timely implementation of all projects.
