A.P. Rolls Out Comprehensive Policy for Regulating Urban Display Devices
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a comprehensive set of rules to regulate urban display devices across all urban local bodies. The reform aims to streamline the installation and management of outdoor advertisements, ensuring uniform standards and improved urban aesthetics.
Officials stated that the new guidelines focus on public safety, mandating structural stability, proper illumination, and compliance with traffic norms to prevent distractions and accidents. The rules also target unauthorised hoardings, enabling stricter enforcement and removal of illegal displays.
In addition to improving visual order in cities, the policy is expected to boost municipal revenues through more transparent licensing and fee collection processes. Urban local bodies will be empowered to monitor displays using digital systems and maintain updated records. The State government believes these measures will promote cleaner, safer, and better-regulated urban spaces.
