Cyber fraud in Bihar is growing fast. Criminals are targeting biometric identities, not just money or jewelry. They are stealing Aadhaar details, fingerprints, and iris scans by setting up fake camps for Ayushman or ration cards. This fraud, revealed in an EOU probe, shows how gangs misuse people’s biometric data.
The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) found that gangs clone Aadhaar details with the help of fake camps, CSCs, and telecom providers. The stolen data is sold online to cyber fraudsters, who use it for issuing SIM cards in bulk. These SIMs are later used in scams and to open fake bank accounts. Victims often face legal trouble because fraud happens in their name.
Officials warn that Aadhaar misuse has increased with both photocopy and biometric fraud. People are advised to use masked Aadhaar, lock biometrics on UIDAI, and track usage history. Updating mobile and email in Aadhaar helps receive alerts. Always visit authorized Aadhaar centers for corrections and check SIM status on the Sarathi portal.
Staying alert and using UIDAI safety tools can prevent Aadhaar-based cyber fraud in Bihar.
