AAP Failed MNREGA Employment claims surfaced on Friday as the Bharatiya Janata Party accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab of denying guaranteed work to rural labourers over the past three years.
AAP Failed MNREGA Employment promise, BJP leader Paramjit Singh Kainth said, despite MNREGA’s mandate of providing 100 days of work. Speaking at a press conference in Bathinda, the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha vice-president alleged that the state neither provided timely employment nor paid unemployment allowance.
Kainth said MNREGA requires work within 15 days of demand, failing which the government must pay allowance. He alleged that Punjab violated this provision across all 23 districts. He also questioned why no action was taken under Section 25 of the Act against responsible officials.
Raising corruption allegations, Kainth claimed the government failed to act on misuse of MNREGA funds. He alleged fake job cards, inflated bills, and payments for unfinished work. He said mandatory social audits were skipped in thousands of Gram Panchayats over the last two years.
The BJP leader further accused the government of shielding corrupt officials by ignoring audit findings and recovery orders worth ₹2.35 crore. He also dismissed claims that the Centre owed MNREGA dues to Punjab, citing a parliamentary committee report.
Kainth urged transparency and demanded a white paper on MNREGA implementation. He also condemned the FIR against journalists over helicopter misuse, calling it an attack on press freedom.
