AAP MLA Raman Arora Moves HC Against Illegal Arrest

AAP MLA Raman Arora arrest case hearing in Punjab and Haryana High Court over bail order violation and illegal detention

AAP MLA Raman Arora from Jalandhar Central has gone to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He claims that his arrest in an August 23 FIR was illegal. The case was registered at Rama Mandi police station. He argues that the police violated his rights under Articles 21 and 22 of the Constitution and Section 47 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Arora said the police never gave him the grounds of arrest. He stressed that the arrest was not necessary, as required by law. He cited the Arvind Kejriwal v. CBI, 2024 ruling of the Supreme Court to support his plea.

The MLA stated that the August 23 FIR was hidden during his bail hearing. He was granted bail on September 3 but was arrested again right after the order. He alleged this was done only to defeat the bail.

Calling it a “motivated misuse of law,” Arora accused the officials of filing incomplete affidavits. His plea also mentioned his serious medical issue, Grade III Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, which may need surgery.
