Ahmedabad Defenders defeated defending champions Calicut Heroes 12-15, 15-12, 15-12, 16-14 at the Prime Volleyball League in Hyderabad. Battur Batsuuri was named Player of the Match.
Ashok Bishnoi and Shameemudheen formed a strong block to counter Angamuthu’s attacks. Batsuuri played a dominant attacking role for Ahmedabad in Shon T John’s absence, helping his team gain momentum. Calicut’s Abdul Raheem and Santhosh pressured Ahmedabad, while captain Mohan Ukkrapandian ensured smooth play through precise passing.
Nandhagopal’s cross-body spikes and powerful super serves helped Ahmedabad regain confidence. Skipper Muthusamy Appavu rallied Calicut at crucial points, but Batsuuri and Angamuthu consistently attacked to keep Ahmedabad in control. Akhin scored the final winning point with a thunderous spike.
Earlier, Chennai Blitz defeated Goa Guardians 12-15, 15-11, 11-15, 18-16, 15-13, with Jerome Vinith named Player of the Match. Prime Volleyball League is India’s first professional volleyball league with ten teams, featuring international players through FIVB transfers. Season 4 continues till October 2025, building on the success of the previous three seasons.
