Artificial intelligence is spreading quickly, and companies worldwide are rushing to adopt it to save costs and increase profits. But many workers now fear that AI could cost them their jobs.
A Reddit post that went viral highlighted this concern. In the r/IndianWorkplace subreddit, a user claimed that even top performers at a company were being pressured to use AI tools or risk losing their positions. One employee, who often spoke directly with the CEO, said he was bullied for two hours in a call because he refused to use the company’s AI product.
According to the post, the CEO is building 15–20 AI tools designed to replace developers. He allegedly plans to hire only interns and junior associates while firing most mid- and senior-level employees. The Redditor added that many leads and architects had already been sacked.
Social media users reacted strongly. Some argued that AI cannot fully replace skilled developers, since the technology still produces messy code that needs expert oversight. Others said companies rushing into AI could harm themselves and eventually be forced to rehire experienced staff.
Even Amazon founder Jeff Bezos recently called the AI craze an “industrial bubble” that will reshape industries but may not deliver overnight miracles.
