All-Weather Pools Remain Shut in Jaipur; Athletes Forced to Train in Cold Water

Jaipur: In a surprising situation for the city’s sporting community, the all-weather swimming pool at SMS Stadium remains closed despite being constructed at a cost of several crores. As a result, athletes are compelled to train in the adjacent regular pool, where water temperatures have dropped to 15–20°C, far below ideal levels for winter training. All-weather pools are designed to maintain warm and stable conditions throughout the year, but the facility continues to stay locked without any official explanation.

A similar scenario prevails at Chougan Stadium, where the all-weather pool also remains unused, leaving swimmers with no choice but to brave the cold.

Ironically, while these state-of-the-art pools lie idle, various sporting activities took place nearby. Multiple swimming competitions were organised today, with former minister Lalchand Kataria and Sports Secretary Neeraj Pawan presenting medals to the winners.

As part of the Khelo India initiative, the Cycling Federation of India conducted a cycling event where Meenakshi clinched first place in the women’s category. She was felicitated by Cooperation Minister Gautam Kumar Dak. Rajasthan Cycling Federation members Sarika Chaudhary and Gajendra Chaudhary, both associated with the BJP, also honoured the minister during the event.
