Ambati Rambabu, former Minister and senior leader of the YSR Congress Party, was remanded in judicial custody in connection with an alleged illegal lottery case. The case was originally filed against him in 2023.
According to police officials, the case relates to the alleged conduct and promotion of an unauthorised lottery scheme. After producing him before a court in Guntur, the judge ordered that he be sent to judicial custody. Police have also sought his custody for further questioning to continue their investigation.
Officials said they need to examine certain documents and gather more details related to the case. Meanwhile, Mr. Rambabu has denied the allegations. His supporters claimed that the case is politically motivated.
The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings will take place after police complete their inquiry.
