Amit Pandey appointed Additional Chief Electoral Officer in Bihar as part of a major reshuffle before the 2025 Assembly Elections. The state government transferred two IAS officers to the Election Department to strengthen preparations for the polls.
Amit Kumar Pandey, earlier Director of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), takes charge as Additional Chief Electoral Officer. He will also continue to manage the ICDS.
Prashant C.A., serving as Director of Panchayati Raj, now joins the Election Department as Additional Chief Electoral Officer. At the same time, he will remain Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar Development Mission under the Panchayati Raj and Cabinet Coordination Department.
The General Administration Department issued the transfer order on Thursday. Additional Secretary Siddheshwar Chaudhary signed the notification.
Officials say the appointments will boost election preparations. Both officers bring administrative experience and proven leadership. The government expects the department to function more effectively with their presence.
With elections approaching, Bihar is focusing on transparent and fair voting. The new appointments show the state’s effort to ensure smooth electoral management.
These changes also signal the importance of building a capable team before the polls. The Election Department now has additional strength to handle the upcoming challenge.
