The Anant Singh Mokama case has taken a serious turn in Bihar. A special court in Patna rejected Anant Singh’s bail request, so he will stay in jail for now. The Anant Singh Mokama case became bigger after he was sent to judicial custody last month. Police linked him to the murder of strongman Dularchand Yadav during the election campaign.
Dularchand Yadav was attacked on October 30th in the Tal area of the Mokama Assembly seat. He was campaigning for Jan Suraj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi. At the same time, the convoys of Piyush and JDU candidate Anant Singh met on the road. Supporters from both sides clashed, shouted at each other, and reports say gunfire took place.
Police said Dularchand was shot in the leg. They also said his death happened when a heavy vehicle ran over him. The family claimed that Anant Singh and his supporters hit him with a vehicle after the shooting.
Police have arrested more than 80 people, including Anant Singh. Officers are checking if the vehicle attack was planned or accidental. Voting took place on November 6th, and Anant Singh later won the Mokama seat by over 28,000 votes.
