Bahubali leader Anant Singh filed his nomination from Mokama on a JDU ticket on October 14. He arrived in a white Thar after performing puja at his home. Before filing, he hosted a massive feast for 25,000 supporters, serving over 1 lakh rasgullas. After the nomination, a grand roadshow with 1,000 vehicles followed.
Anant Singh, once an MLA from RJD in 2020, switched to Janata Dal United (JDU) this time. Earlier, he was sentenced to ten years in prison for illegal weapons recovery, which cost him his MLA post. His wife, Neelam Devi, later won the 2022 Mokama by-election for RJD. In August 2024, the Patna High Court acquitted him.
Following his release, Anant Singh met Nitish Kumar, fueling his political comeback. Since 2005, he has won five elections from Mokama—three with JDU, one as independent, and one with RJD.
