Andhra Pradesh Collectors asked to form committees for hostel hygiene
The Andhra Pradesh government has instructed all district Collectors to form Joint Action Committees (JACs) to ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness in welfare hostels across the State. The move aims to provide a safe and healthy environment for students living in these hostels.
Officials said the committees will regularly inspect hostels, check sanitation facilities, and ensure clean drinking water and proper food arrangements. They will also monitor waste management and the maintenance of toilets, bathrooms, and kitchen areas.
The government emphasized that maintaining hygiene in hostels is essential for the health and well-being of children, especially in welfare hostels that accommodate students from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds.
Collectors have been asked to coordinate with hostel authorities, local health officials, and staff to implement these measures effectively. Regular reports on cleanliness and hygiene standards will be submitted to higher authorities to ensure accountability.
The initiative is part of the State’s broader efforts to improve student welfare and living conditions in government hostels.
