Andhra Pradesh energy conservation ranks first at national level
Andhra Pradesh energy conservation initiatives have once again earned top honours at the national level, with the State securing first prize in Group-II of the National Energy Conservation Awards for the fourth consecutive year, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said on Saturday.
He said the award recognises the consistent efforts of the AP State Energy Conservation Mission in promoting efficient energy use across sectors such as industry, power distribution, government buildings, and households. Strong policy support and public participation helped the State maintain its top position.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will present the award to APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director K. Sivasankar on behalf of the State at a function in New Delhi on December 14.

The Chief Secretary said Andhra Pradesh energy conservation programmes focus on reducing power consumption, promoting energy-efficient appliances, and encouraging renewable energy adoption. Awareness campaigns and technical support to industries also played a key role in achieving measurable savings.

Officials noted that the State has implemented several innovative initiatives, including energy audits, LED street lighting projects, and demand-side management programmes. These efforts helped lower energy costs and reduce carbon emissions.

The government plans to further strengthen conservation measures to support sustainable development and meet future energy demands.
