Nayak, a 2005-batch IPS officer, currently serves as Inspector General in Bihar Fire Services. The case relates to allegations that Raghuram Krishna Raju faced custodial assault after his arrest in Andhra Pradesh in 2021, when Nayak worked with the state CID.
The visiting police team produced him before a local court and sought transit remand to take him to Andhra Pradesh for further investigation. The arrest created tension near his residence as security forces deployed additional personnel. Legal representatives have also moved court regarding the arrest process.
