Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority Managing Director Prakhar Jain announced that a surface circulation persists over the northwest Bay of Bengal near the West Bengal and Odisha coasts. This system is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area by Tuesday, September 2.
Due to this development, Andhra Pradesh will likely experience widespread rainfall from today through September 4. Officials have urged citizens to stay alert, warning that moderate to heavy rain may disrupt daily life and impact agriculture in several districts.
Heavy rain is likely today in parts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, and Guntur districts. Rainfall intensity will vary depending on local conditions.
Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Bapatla, Palnadu, and Prakasam districts may see light to moderate showers. Authorities have advised farmers to take precautions to protect standing crops. Residents should avoid low-lying, flood-prone areas.
Disaster management teams remain on high alert and are ready to respond if conditions worsen.
