Andhra Pradesh to start 50% Green Cover Project from Ugadi
The Andhra Pradesh government will launch a major environmental programme called the 50% Green Cover Project from Ugadi, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said. The main aim of the project is to increase green cover across the State and protect the environment.
As an intermediate target, the government plans to raise the green cover to 37% by the year 2030. Pawan Kalyan said trees play a key role in reducing pollution, improving rainfall, and controlling climate change. He stressed that protecting nature is important for the future of the State.
The project will include large-scale tree plantation along roads, rivers, canals, forest lands, and public places. The government will also encourage farmers, students, and local communities to take part in the programme.
The Deputy Chief Minister said modern technology will be used to monitor tree growth and survival. He added that public participation is essential for the success of the project and urged people to support the green initiative.
