Andhra Speaker seeks action against MLAs absent from Assembly
Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu has sought action against MLAs who are regularly skipping Assembly sessions. He expressed concern over the continuous absence of 11 MLAs from the YSR Congress Party, including party leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, from the Legislative Assembly.
The Speaker said that attending Assembly sessions is a basic responsibility of elected representatives. He hinted that repeated absence without valid reasons could lead to serious consequences under Assembly rules. He stressed that MLAs are expected to represent the people who elected them and take part in debates and discussions.
Ayyanna Patrudu said frequent absenteeism affects the functioning of the Assembly and delays important legislative work. He urged all members to follow democratic traditions and respect the House.
The Speaker said he would review the matter and consult legal and procedural experts before taking any decision. He added that any action taken would be as per the rules of the Assembly and aimed at maintaining discipline and accountability.
