MLA Anirudh Reddy Reacts to Village Election Loss

Anirudh Reddy village loss creates debate as BJP-backed candidate wins sarpanch seat, raising questions about local political dynamics.

Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy responded to the unexpected result in his native village, Ranga Reddy Guda, where a BJP-backed candidate won the sarpanch election. He said sarpanch polls do not use party symbols, and villagers usually support candidates who promise better development. He also accused the BRS and BJP of working together in the village.

Speaking to a news channel today, Anirudh Reddy stated that the winning candidate had lost twice earlier and gained sympathy votes this time. He added that some external forces supported the BJP-backed contestant only to undermine him. He admitted that he focused more on other villages and assumed his own village would naturally support him, which caused some negligence on his part.

According to him, if a BRS candidate had contested, they would have secured only 13 votes. He further said most villages in the region did not even have BRS candidates. The MLA argued that the result was influenced more by local sentiment than by political equations.

In the final count, 972 votes were cast in the village. Congress candidate Anjali received 459 votes, while BJP candidate Katepaga Revathi secured 490 votes. Revathi’s initial majority of six votes increased to 31 votes after a recount requested by Congress leaders.
