Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and a key accused in the assassination of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, is set to arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday morning after being expelled from the United States.

Upon landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Bishnoi will be formally taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He is wanted in India for his alleged role in multiple organised crime activities, including cross-border extortion, targeted killings, and coordinating shooters and funding modules linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Expulsion Linked to Trump-era Immigration Rules

Top intelligence sources confirmed that Anmol’s expulsion is directly connected to the revised immigration policies implemented by US President Donald Trump. Under the new rules, any illegal immigrant is mandatorily detained once their first asylum or immigration petition is rejected. This marks a complete departure from the earlier Biden-era provisions, which allowed rejected applicants to file repeated appeals and remain free during the review process.

The Trump rules have accelerated deportation timelines drastically—from around 10 years to nearly 18 months. Anmol Bishnoi, who has been in detention for close to 1.5 years, was processed rapidly under this streamlined system.

Key Handler in Global Crime Network

Investigators describe Anmol as a “major handler” in the Bishnoi crime syndicate. Operating from abroad, he is known to have coordinated extortion threats, managed shooters, issued instructions via encrypted apps, and overseen targeted murder plots. All FIRs registered against him across various states have been transferred to the NIA.

Major Cases Linked to Anmol Bishnoi

  • Murder of Baba Siddique (October 12, 2024): Siddique was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan’s office in Bandra. Several members associated with the Bishnoi gang were arrested, while Anmol was listed as a key conspirator.

  • Sidhu Moosewala Murder Case (2022): Anmol is believed to have fled India using a forged passport weeks before Moosewala was killed in Punjab.

  • Salman Khan Residence Firing (April 2024): He is also wanted in the firing incident outside the actor’s Galaxy Apartments home.

Custody Battle Expected

With multiple states seeking his custody, the Union government will decide which agency will question him first. Mumbai Police, Punjab Police, and central agencies have all registered serious cases against him.

Bishnoi’s extradition marks a major breakthrough in India’s efforts to dismantle cross-border criminal networks increasingly operating through Canada, the US, and Europe.
