The Andhra Pradesh Assembly has unanimously approved three important bills: the Scheduled Caste (SC) Categorization Bill, the Panchayat Raj Act Amendment, and the Indian Civil Protection Code Amendment. The SC Categorization Bill, introduced by Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy , was passed with broad support.

Under the new legislation, reservations within SC groups have been specified: 12.5% for 18 castes in Group-1 and 6.5% for 29 castes in Group-3. Additionally, a 7.5% reservation has been allocated to certain other SC sub-groups. The bill aims to ensure equitable distribution of benefits among the SC communities in Andhra Pradesh, addressing historical inequalities.

Alongside this, the local fee allocation bill was also approved, ensuring funds reach local governing bodies efficiently. The approval of these bills marks a significant step toward social justice, administrative reform, and local governance enhancement in the state.
