AP High Court Recommends AI Deployment in TTD Parakamani to Curb Theft
The Andhra Pradesh High Court has suggested that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Parakamani process to minimize the risk of theft. The observation came during the hearing of a batch of writ petitions related to a recent theft case involving temple offerings.
The judge noted that the current manual handling of offerings leaves room for irregularities and mismanagement. Moving to an automated system with AI monitoring could enhance transparency, reduce human intervention, and strengthen accountability. The court also recommended discontinuing the outsourcing of the handling process, saying in-house automation would be more secure and efficient.
The matter has been posted for further hearing on December 19, allowing the temple authorities time to respond to the suggestions. Advocates appearing for petitioners emphasised the need for modern technology to safeguard valuable donations and ensure trust among devotees. TTD officials assured the court that all measures would be explored to prevent future incidents.
