YCP MP Mithun Reddy, an accused in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam case, surrendered to jail after his temporary bail expired recently. Earlier, the ACB court had granted him interim bail on health grounds.
On Tuesday, the Vijayawada ACB Court heard arguments on his regular bail petition. CBI lawyers opposed the plea, stating that granting bail could affect the ongoing investigation. They argued that the case involved serious financial irregularities and required continued custody for effective inquiry.
In contrast, Mithun Reddy’s legal team appealed to the court, citing his deteriorating health condition. They insisted that medical care outside prison was necessary for his recovery. His lawyers argued that bail would not obstruct the investigation, as the MP was ready to cooperate fully with authorities.
After hearing both sides, the ACB Court adjourned the matter to September 19 for further proceedings. Until then, the court will consider the submissions from the prosecution and defense before delivering its verdict on the regular bail plea.
