Arif Mohammad Khan Bihar Governor served the state for 428 days before the Centre announced a change in leadership. His relatively short tenure has sparked discussions about the reasons behind the move.
Arif Mohammad Khan took oath as the 42nd Governor of Bihar on 2 January 2025, replacing Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. During his time in office, he focused on improving the functioning of universities and asked institutions to regularize academic and examination schedules.
Despite the short tenure, Arif Mohammad Khan Bihar Governor maintained good relations with both ruling and opposition leaders. He regularly met political leaders and often spoke about Bihar’s rich history and culture during public events.
The central government recently appointed retired Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain as the new Governor of Bihar. His appointment came as part of a broader reshuffle of governors in several states.
In the past decade, Bihar has seen frequent changes in the governor’s post, with seven governors serving during this period.
Many observers now speculate about the political and administrative reasons behind the sudden transition.
