Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) congratulated the 11 Para Special Forces team for successfully scaling Mount Kangto, the state’s highest peak. He met the team at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar and praised their courage. He said the team not only reached the summit but also opened a new route for future expeditions.
The mission placed the tricolour on the peak on 26 November 2025, marking the first such achievement in the state’s history. The team battled snowstorms, steep ice walls and extreme temperatures during the climb.
The Governor said the success could help the state welcome international climbers and boost adventure tourism. The 18-member team began the expedition on 3 November from Khirmu Helipad and completed it on 30 November in Dirang.
