Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Naveen Mahajan has clarified that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is not limited to deleting outdated entries but is equally focused on adding new and eligible voters to ensure a clean and accurate electoral roll. Speaking during a KeyNote session moderated by First India News CEO and Managing Editor Pawan Arora, Mahajan underlined that the revision exercise is essential for strengthening democratic participation in Rajasthan.

Mahajan stressed that the primary objective of SIR is to systematically identify and remove entries of deceased, shifted, or duplicate voters, while simultaneously enrolling first-time voters, especially the youth turning 18. He addressed public concerns regarding Aadhaar and mobile number collection, reiterating that the Election Commission of India maintains strict data-protection protocols to safeguard citizens’ privacy.

Highlighting the scale of the operation, Mahajan informed that over 52,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have undergone intensive training to ensure accuracy during field verification. He also detailed the SIR timeline, confirming that the final electoral roll will be published on February 7.

The conversation concluded with Mahajan sharing insights into his administrative approach and how sports continue to influence his discipline, teamwork, and work ethic.
