Asaduddin Owaisi took a swipe at Yogi Adityanath over his remarks on the Babri Masjid during a public gathering in Barabanki. Mr. Adityanath had said, “The day of ‘Qayamat’ (doomsday) will never come, and hence the Babri structure will never be rebuilt. Those who are dreaming of the day of ‘Qayamat’ will rot away; that day will never come.”
Owaisi criticised the Chief Minister for making comments on a sensitive religious issue, saying such statements could hurt community sentiments and create unnecessary tension. He urged political leaders to show respect towards all religious sites and focus on development and harmony rather than controversial remarks.
Observers noted that the Babri Masjid continues to be a sensitive topic in Uttar Pradesh politics. Owaisi’s response reflects concerns about maintaining communal peace and discouraging divisive rhetoric ahead of future elections.
