Azharuddin Assigned Minorities Welfare and Public Enterprises Portfolios in Telangana
Former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin has been allotted the Minorities Welfare and Public Enterprises portfolios in the Telangana Cabinet.
Azharuddin, who recently took oath as a minister in Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s government, is expected to focus on expanding welfare schemes for minority communities and improving efficiency in public sector enterprises. His appointment is seen as part of the government’s effort to ensure inclusive representation and strengthen its outreach among minority groups.
A prominent face in Telangana politics and a former MP from Moradabad, Azharuddin has been active in both sports administration and public service. Party leaders said his dual portfolios reflect the administration’s emphasis on social equity and transparent governance.
