Security forces in Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Bandipora district’s Gurez sector, killing two terrorists in the process.
According to officials, movement was detected near the Naushehra Nar area, following which troops of the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police launched a swift joint operation. The infiltrators, heavily armed, attempted to sneak into Indian territory under the cover of darkness. When challenged by soldiers, they opened fire, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire. Both terrorists were neutralized on the spot.
The operation, codenamed “Naushera Nar IV,” was part of a continuing effort to block infiltration routes across the rugged Gurez region, which has seen repeated attempts in recent months. Security forces have since cordoned off the area and are carrying out search operations to ensure no other militants managed to cross over.
Officials highlighted that the alertness of the forces prevented a serious threat, underlining their readiness to respond to cross-border terrorism. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, and identity verification is underway.
This successful operation reinforces the commitment of security agencies to safeguard the LoC and prevent militant incursions.
