The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shifted the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League matches and the final from Indore to Pune due to significant logistical hurdles. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Friday that the decision was made after the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) expressed its inability to host the event because of a severe shortage of hotel rooms.

The domestic T20 championship’s group stage is currently underway across Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. The Super League stage was originally scheduled to begin in Indore on December 12, with the final planned for December 18. However, MPCA informed BCCI that accommodating eight teams, their extended support staff, and the broadcast crew was becoming impossible. The issue was compounded by a large number of weddings and a major doctors’ conference taking place in the city from December 13 to 16, leaving no adequate five-star hotel availability.

As a result, the BCCI moved the entire Super League phase to Pune, where 13 matches—12 Super League games and the final—will now be played across two venues: the Gahunje Stadium and the Old MCA Ground. The Super League features eight teams, with the top two from each group advancing to the final.
