Bengal Cold Wave Warning remains in force as West Bengal continues to shiver under harsh winter conditions. The India Meteorological Department has warned that the cold wave will persist across the state until at least January 9. Temperatures may drop further, while dense morning fog could disrupt daily life.

Kolkata experienced its coldest January day in 12 years on Monday. The mercury dipped to 10.2 degrees Celsius. Weather officials expect the minimum temperature to hover near 10 degrees, while the maximum may stay around 19 degrees. Fog and mist are likely during early hours, reducing visibility. Airlines have already cautioned passengers about possible flight delays.

North Bengal districts will also face severe conditions. Dense fog may cover several areas, especially during mornings. Cold day conditions are likely in Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, and Alipurduar. Poor visibility could affect road and rail movement in these regions.

South Bengal may witness the harshest impact. Birbhum and East Burdwan districts remain under an orange alert for Wednesday and Thursday. Cold day conditions may prevail in Hooghly, Murshidabad, Nadia, East and West Burdwan, and North and South 24 Parganas.

Meteorologists say similar weather patterns may continue through the weekend. Authorities have advised people to take precautions, especially children, elderly citizens, and outdoor workers.
