The nationwide strike called as part of the Bharat Bandh led to protests in several parts of Andhra Pradesh on February 12, 2026. In Vijayawada, protestors gathered at Ratham Centre in the busy One Town commercial area. They organised a large rally, holding placards and raising slogans against the ruling party and the Central government.
The protest was part of the general strike called by central trade unions against the Centre’s labour policies. The protestors said the new labour codes and other policies are not in favour of workers and common people. They demanded better protection for workers’ rights and job security.
Police were present at the protest sites to maintain law and order. Traffic was slightly affected in some areas due to the rally. However, essential services continued without major disruption. Similar demonstrations were reported in other towns of the state as part of the nationwide strike.
