India’s Bhavtegh Singh Gill made an impressive start at the ISSF World Championship Shotgun 2025 in Athens, Greece. The two-time Junior World Championship medallist hit all 50 targets on the opening day of the men’s skeet qualification at the Malakasa Shooting Range on Friday.
Bhavtegh’s flawless performance placed him alongside legendary shooters Vincent Hancock of the USA, Mikola Milchev of Ukraine, Henrik Jansson of Sweden, Kacper Jerzyall Baksalary of Poland, and Emil Kjeldgaard of Denmark. All six shooters registered perfect 50s to share the top spot after Day 1 of qualification.
Among other Indian shooters, Olympian Anantjeet Singh Naruka scored 48 to sit 35th, while veteran Mairaj Ahmad Khan hit 45 to finish 97th in a strong 116-athlete field. In the women’s skeet event, Raiza Dhillon and Parinaaz Dhaliwal scored 45 and 44 respectively, while Ganemat Sekhon recorded 43 to stand 45th.
China’s Jinmei Gao, Cyprus’ Anastasia Eleftheriou, Australia’s Aislin Jones, USA’s Samantha Simonton, and Canada’s Madeliene Boyd lead the women’s field with 49 hits each. The qualification rounds continue through Sunday, with the finals scheduled for October 12, 2025, in Athens.
