Bhogapuram Airport Set for Flight Validation Test, Andhra Pradesh Aviation Sector to Take Off
Andhra Pradesh’s aviation sector is set to receive a major boost as Bhogapuram Airport prepares for its flight validation test on January 4. The airport, located near Vizianagaram, is a key infrastructure project initiated during the NDA government’s tenure between 2014 and 2019, following the bifurcation of the State.
Officials have confirmed that all preparations for the flight validation exercise have been completed, marking a critical step toward operationalizing the airport. Once cleared, the airport is expected to handle both passenger and cargo flights, enhancing connectivity in the northern districts of Andhra Pradesh and supporting regional economic growth.
The project is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2026, and is expected to create employment opportunities while attracting investment in the surrounding areas. Authorities are optimistic that Bhogapuram Airport will serve as a gateway to the State, reducing travel time to major cities and strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s position in the national aviation landscape.
